Monte Gordo is an excellent holiday choice for families with kids, mature visitors looking for relaxing days, and for those who love amazing beach experiences!
The large promenade facing the seashore is lined with restaurants for all tastes, bars, artists, street sellers, and a Casino. At night, people flock for a leisure evening stroll, and the familiar ambiance attracts visitors from various nationalities and ages.
The nightlife is mainly relaxed and social, without the heavy drinking culture of other popular resorts in the Algarve.
You could easily spend your days lounging on Monte Gordo’s glorious beach, but if you’re interested in more, there is a lot to see and do in the East Algarve.

Vila Real Marina – Across the border from Vila Real is Spain
Nearby, you can visit the historic towns of Tavira, Castro Marim, and Vila Real de Santo António.
From Tavira, you can also enjoy a fun boat tour in the Ria Formosa Nature Park, a system of lagoons of astonishing natural beauty.
Spain is just a ferry trip away, on the other bank of the lovely Guadiana River.
A holiday in this wonderful region, with the beach surrounded by pine woods, is also an opportunity for sport leisure activities, using the plane trails for cycling, walking or enjoying the many activities at your hotel.
Monte Gordo may not be the most famous resort, but you’ll struggle to find a better beach than this in Western Europe, and you’ll get excellent value for your money!

This beautiful settlement, in the west of the Guadiana River, was built to help protect the Algarve coast.
For many years, the protection of the south coast of Portugal was at the cape of Castro Marim, a village that lies further north.
However, the protection of soil conferred by the village of Castro Marim left the Portuguese border territories in excessive exposure, in 1773 was built Vila Real de Santo António, by the hand of king D. José and his regent Marquês de Pombal.
